“……”
He stuffed it in and pulled out another piece, still adorned with various cute elements in its print.
Tong Sui glanced once more at the pile of small skirts stacked in the corner and quickly averted his gaze.
He would absolutely not wear those clothes.
So, he casually pulled out a piece of clothing, not bothering with much thought, and directly stripped off his clothes to change into it.
He wore a light pink t-shirt that had a cute white lamb printed on the front.
For the bottom, he chose a pair of loose-fitting white midway shorts, the length just above his knees, revealing his dainty pale pink knees.
He picked up his phone and walked to the door, changing into a pair of white cotton ankle socks and a pair of sneakers. Just before stepping out, he recalled the awkward public recognition he had experienced that morning, so he grabbed a mask and a hat from the entryway drawer.
The hat was a bucket hat with a wide brim that nearly covered half of Tong Sui’s face, and he was quite satisfied.
While waiting for the elevator, Tong Sui opened his phone.
He saw a message from Chi Xingyu.
Chi Xingyu: I misspoke earlier; please don’t be angry, okay?
Tong Sui hmphed.
He would not forgive or accept it.
If he let himself be swayed again by a few words, Chi Xingyu would undoubtedly put him in an embarrassing situation in front of so many people another time.
He shut the chat interface and switched to a ride-hailing app, booking a car toward the shopping mall.
It was peak commuting time, and the sky had already darkened a bit.
The mall at the Guojin Center lit up early, its luxurious architectural style contrasting with various high-end brand displays, the glass exceedingly clean and transparent.
Upon entering, he initially intended to ask his assistant how to contact the program team, but a man in a black suit suddenly approached him, startling him. The man said, “Hello, I’m from the ‘Heartbeat Rhythm’ program team. You are Mr. Tong Sui, right?”
“Right.”
Tong Sui looked around but did not see any cameras or similar equipment. “You won’t edit this footage into the show, will you?”
The man replied, “No.”
“Oh…”
Hearing the response, Tong Sui relaxed a bit. Looking at the man in his crisp suit, he thought to himself, even the work attire requirements for staff have become so strict?
Tong Sui asked, “Are you the assistant who contacted me before?”
The man’s expression faltered slightly. “Not me; I’m responsible for handling your payments today. You can call me Xiao Zhou.”
The man looked significantly older than him, making Tong Sui feel awkward about calling him Xiao Zhou, so he just nodded and started walking along the first floor of the mall.
Xiao Zhou walked just half a step behind him, maintaining a professional standard.
Tong Sui looked at the reflected scene in the glass windows.
Rather than an entertainment show staff member, Xiao Zhou seemed more like an aide or secretary for a large enterprise, and of a quite senior rank at that.
Tong Sui felt somewhat uneasy about this rigid superior-subordinate dynamic, so he stopped and said, “Xiao Zhou, you don’t need to walk behind me; let’s walk side by side. Otherwise, it feels like I have a secretary following me.”
A flicker of surprise crossed Zhou Zhou’s eyes.
He didn’t expect this seemingly young guy to have such a keen intuition.
He really was the secretary next to Jiang Ciyanz.
When he received this task, he was puzzled; the boss had him accompany a boy for shopping. Such a simple task hardly required his presence.
What puzzled him even more was that Jiang Ciyanz himself had also come but chose not to appear directly.
Forget it.
If he could guess what Jiang Ciyanz was thinking, the company could not have scaled up so quickly in such a short time.
Tong Sui wandered aimlessly around the mall.
He had previously relied on others to handle his dietary and clothing needs, so he didn’t have many opinions about his outfits. He turned to ask Zhou Zhou, “What type of clothing is suitable to wear on the show?”
Zhou Zhou, a person who rarely even watches dramas, let alone variety shows, had no idea about this. He could only brace himself and say, “I think the style you’re wearing today is quite appropriate.”
“Is it?”
Tong Sui frowned slightly, looking at his reflection. Wouldn’t this be a bit too childish?
After all, it was a dating show.
Who would like to date someone who looks like they were teetering on the edge of breaking the law?
Tong Sui walked from the first floor to the second. As he walked, he suddenly stopped in front of a store.
Through the glass door, Tong Sui’s eyes lit up as he couldn’t help but exclaim, “This outfit is amazing!”
Zhou Zhou followed his gaze inside.
There stood a tall figure in a white shirt, facing away from the door. The seemingly simple cut perfectly showcased his broad shoulders and narrow waist, presenting a mix of restraint and hidden cleverness.
It was indeed stunning.
However, after looking for an extra couple of seconds, Zhou Zhou suddenly felt it was somewhat familiar. Upon focusing, he spotted the watch on the man’s wrist.
Zhou Zhou’s heart skipped a beat.
He understood why the figure looked familiar; it was his boss, Jiang Ciyanz!
So, why was Mr. Jiang trying on clothes in the store?
He had all his garments custom-tailored, delivered regularly to his door, and didn’t need to waste precious time trying them on himself.
While Zhou Zhou was perplexed, Tong Sui had already pushed the door open and entered.
This was the first store Tong Sui had entered today.
He couldn’t quite say why, but there was an oddly familiar feeling, causing him to stare intently at that figure.
Until that figure turned around.
Tong Sui froze for two seconds, his mind only echoing one thought: What a coincidence! He actually bumped into Jiang Ciyanz right before the program began!
In the split second their eyes met, Tong Sui hurriedly averted his gaze, turning his head down.
